DY9

The Derya Arms DY9 is a semi-auto pistol chambered in 9mm.

Striker fire reliability with a strikingly friendly price. The Derya Arms DY9 is a semi-auto pistol chambered in 9mm. It features a 4.02" barrel, polymer frame with changeable back straps, and Truglo fiber optic front and green rear sights. It also has a firing pin block and anti-drop trigger block for safety. The DY9 is available with:

  • 10 or 15 round magazines

  • Firing pin block & anti drop trigger block

  • Black Melonite finish

  • Polymer and changeable back straps

  • Truglo fiber optic hi-vis front and green rear sights

Compatible Magazine 

Glock long magazines such as 30+ rounds will fit because the magazine will not protrude on the magwell. 

When the magwell is NOT attached, the G19 - 15rds mag and G17 – 17rds mags will work.  But, if the magwell is attached, the basepad restricts some G19 mags to go all the way in. MOST magazines for Glock 19 work with the pistol but is not guaranteed (see the magazine-compatibility tests on the Derya US YouTube channel).

Sights

Sights installed includes:

  • Front: Truglo Fiber Optic (Red)
    • Front Sight Screw Size: Proprietary found at https://derya.us/front-sight-screw/
  • Rear: Truglo Green; Optic Plate
    • Rear Sight Screw Size: M3x3mm and also found at https://derya.us/rear-sight-screw/
DY9 is not compatible with Glock sights.

    • Thread (4 holes) – 3mm x .5 thread
  • Marked as Trijicon (RMR)
    • Thread (2 holes) – 6 x 32 thread

How many inch per pound should the screws be at to hold the optic plate in place? We suggest  a range of 12 to 16 inch-pounds.

Material used and Finish process 

For material used, DY9 slide is forged 4140 steel. Barrel is 4140 Annealed Extruded Steel (heat treated, followed by crack inspection, then drilling, and finally machining).  For frame, we use a certain formula for premium polymer frame.

For finish process, all DY9 slides and barrels are Melonite finished in house in Turkiye; USA-made DY9s are Nitride finished (the US name for Melonite) by Derya's finishing partner in the USA. If your gun is Cerakoted or Ceramic Coating, we Melonite first, then Cerakote, for ultimate performance. All polymer type parts are mainly dyed with the color (that color throughout frame).

State Compliance

Maryland: compliant. Massachusetts: the DY9 MASSACHUSETTS (DY9.MA.US) only; see its own article. California: the standard DY9 is not currently sold in California. All 10L items ship with a 10-round magazine for states that limit capacity.

A: The Derya DY9 does not have a strict "shelf life" like perishable goods; it is designed for long-term durability and can remain functional indefinitely when stored properly in a cool, dry environment with minimal humidity to prevent corrosion on metal parts. Its polymer frame resists degradation from chemicals, UV light, and environmental factors, allowing it to last 50–100+ years or more without issues. In usage tests, the DY9 has shown resilience, surviving over 20,000 rounds without failure. Avoid extreme conditions like prolonged moisture or heat for optimal storage life.

Q: What is the heat resistance of the Derya DY9's polymer frame, including its softening or deformation temperature? A: The Derya DY9's polymer frame offers solid heat resistance for practical use, maintaining its shape and rigidity up to temperatures around 150–190°F (65–88°C). It withstands heat from rapid firing without issues, as shown in shooting tests, but avoid exposing it to prolonged heat above 190°F to prevent potential warping. 

Q: What is the meltdown temperature or melting point of the Derya DY9's polymer frame? A: The polymer frame of the Derya DY9, similar to other Nylon-based firearm polymers, has a melting point around 420–428°F (215–220°C), at which the material fully liquefies.  However, exceeding 400°F, such as in fires, could lead to catastrophic failure.

Q: Do triggers for Glock work with Derya DY9? A: Yes, Triggers for Glock GEN 1-4 are compatible with Derya DY9.

Q: What is the stock (OEM) trigger spring weight for a Derya DY9?
A: The stock trigger spring for a Derya DY9 is rated at 5 lbs. This is the coil spring that connects to the trigger bar and assists in pulling the trigger rearward during the pull cycle.

Q: How does the trigger spring differ from the trigger pull weight?
A: The trigger spring weight refers to the resistance rating of the actual spring component (5 lbs stock), which helps return the trigger and influences the overall feel. The trigger pull weight is the total force required to fire the gun, typically around 5-5.5 lbs stock for a Derya DY9, and is affected by multiple parts including the connector, striker spring, and trigger spring.

Q: How does the trigger spring affect the trigger pull dynamics?
A: The trigger spring is an assisting spring—it pulls the trigger bar rearward, which can make the pull feel lighter if a heavier spring (e.g., 6 lbs) is used, as it provides more force to overcome friction. A lighter spring (e.g., 4.5 lbs) might improve reset feel but could reduce reliability. The stock 5 lbs balances reliability and pull weight.

Q: What are common aftermarket trigger spring options and their effects?
A:

  • 6 lb spring: Slightly reduces perceived pull weight (by about 0.5 lbs) by adding more assisting force; popular for lighter triggers without major modifications.

Q: Will an optic affect the Loaded Chamber Indicator on the Derya DY9?

A: No, the optic plate is designed to fit around the chamber indicator, allowing the optic to sit securely on top without interference.

Q: What is the expected out-of-box accuracy and point of impact for the Derya DY9?

A: The stock Derya DY9 is a service pistol designed for reliable combat accuracy rather than match-grade precision. Out of the box, its mechanical accuracy, meaning the pistol's inherent capability in a machine rest with suitable ammo, is what Derya targets during design and manufacturing.

For the barrel specifically, the base model is under 2 inches at 10 yards, around 2.5–3 inches at 15 yards, and typically 4–6 inches at 25 yards in optimal conditions from a rest, before factoring in shooter variability.

Regarding point of impact (POI), stock Deryas are typically factory-sighted for alignment at 25 yards, where the point of impact is just a hair below the top of the front sight post when using a standard sight picture (tops of front and rear sights level, front sight centered on the target). This setup often results in a slight "shoot low" tendency at closer ranges (e.g., 3 inches low at 25 yards with heavier bullets), favoring a combat hold where the front sight is placed slightly above the intended point of impact for faster target acquisition. Actual POI can vary slightly based on ammo weight, barrel specifics, and shooter technique, adjustable rear sights allow for fine-tuning if needed.

For practical shooting without a rest, group sizes will vary widely based on the shooter's skill, stance, grip, trigger control, and environmental factors, expect 4–8 inches at 25 yards as a reasonable target for an experienced shooter aiming to push the pistol's limits.

Q: What is in the box? A: The pistol in a grey foam case with cutouts, a Derya bag with the user manual and WTTA flyer, one magazine (15-round, or 10-round on 10L items; the camo and threaded factory exclusives include two), four backstraps (S, M, L, XL), two optic plates (one for the Truglo, Docter, Meopta, Insight and Vortex footprints and one for the Trijicon RMR), guide rod, gun brush, Allen key, cleaning rod and a gun lock.

Q: What warranty comes with the DY9, and how do I activate it? A: Derya provides a limited lifetime warranty to the original purchaser (non-transferable) for the product's intended purpose. Q: I don't see my firearm, item number, UPC, or color listed for DY9, where is it? A: On our website we list firearm types only; each type can include several items. Variations exist because of dealer and factory exclusives and magazine capacities that comply with state laws. If an item number starts with 10L it ships with a 10-round magazine. Item numbers ending in "US" were made in the United States; "TR" means made in Turkiye. Every DY9 item, including the dealer exclusives, factory exclusives and one-time items, is in the table below; if yours is not listed, contact support@deryaarms.us with the serial number and the UPC from the box. Factory exclusives are limited-run colorways and configurations that Derya builds in batches and sells through selected dealers.
